Absonant: Chapter 16

I was falling... Falling... Falling. Falling to my doom, death, despair... I should've never ditched my friends. I should've stayed put, and I wouldn't have died. But, now I'm paying for it. Dying, and not being able to help at all. Dying unknown, painful, freezing death, all over a freak accident. I said my hopes, and fell. I had nothing to lose anymore.

I was right at the ocean's surface.

I waited for a huge splash and for my ribs to crack and rip my heart in two.

I waited...

And waited...

But nothing.

Did I die already?

No, I was alive, FLOATING. Right over the Atlantic Ocean.

I looked around, furtively, worried on what to do. I thought death would come and haunt me here, but... I guess not.

"DEVIN!! HELP!!" I shouted.

No reply.

The ice floe we were going to land on had disappeared from my sight. The frigid air and mist blocked my view. Devin might think similar.

I was alone in the middle of nowhere, unsure if I could move, and die an even more painful, slow death.

My despair brought courage, and I tried moving. 

My legs were unresponsive. 

I groaned. My frustration built up along with my curiosity. 

But my curiosity kills me.

I got worried, but tried to stay calm.

I shut my eyes, and tried to calm down. I felt a small jolt trying this as well. 

I wondered what was REALLY happening... Logic and sanity were just dumped in the ocean, so it's anyone's grabs for a stupid reason now.

I let tears roll down my face, and held in my sadness and babyish emotions.

Someone would find me... 

Someone WILL find me....

A POKEUMAN will find me.

I just have to wait for the right time.

"Fūijin. My blade is sharp enough to duel. We must head to battle." I called.

"Alright, alright Mr. Samurai, we'll go... I just have to put this stuff in the bag quick..." he groaned.

I waited intently, cutting a few rocks I noticed as I sat.

Fūijin approached me. "Let's go, Mr, Samurai."

"Agreed." I smirked.

I jumped down the mountain, and headed toward the other one.

But, out of nowhere,  a new mountain grew from under my feet.

I jumped like a rabbit that just got sneak attacked, and ran backward.

I saw Fūijin down halfway on this new mountain.

Little did I realize, the valley of twists tricked me. I went backwards somehow.

I jumped down and caught up to him.

"W-wait, I thought you were behind me, Fūijin...?" I asked.

"Ah! Can't you give me a sign or warning first...?" he grumbled.

"Grumpy Fūijin, how did you get ahead so fast?"

"I didn't. You went backwards."

"I-I did? Grrr, Valley of Twists... I shall get you..." 

"Yeah, 'course you will..."

We transcended about what felt like Japan long distance. We didn't stop for mercy at any point. We marched like true warriors.

Fūijin picked up a leaf a while after we last talked.

"What's that for, Fūijin?" I asked.

"Hmm... This leaf isn't native to Canada... We must be in the States then."

"Ah, the training ground I call home, along with Japan..." I smiled.

"Yeah, yeah... Well, we're getting close at least."

"Very well." I agreed.

We heard a strange buzzing at that.

"O-oh?... Ah!" Fūijin jumped. He picked up his communicating box.

"A-adam!? Are you okay!?"

"--lp! Stu-- in th- mi---- of th- -tla---- O----! S-- -O- ---. PLEASE HELP!"

And the box fell silent.

"Something's up with Adam... I'm worried."

"Fūijin... He'll be fine."

"I hope so..."

With this comment, we are attacked by two ruffian Pokemon.
